Phase 2 Water Improvements Update

June 17, 2022

SCWSA is now advertising all 4 contracts for the Holley Ferry Spann Road Water Improvements – Phase 2 Project.  The Bid Opening will be on August 2nd.  After that we will be working diligently with attorneys to get contracts signed, obtain financial agency concurrence, and schedule and hold pre-construction meetings with regulatory agencies.  Which typically means our contractors will be mobilized and digging dirt around Halloween.

For those in the Project’s scope that have not yet paid a reduced tap fee have until the Bid Opening to do so.  After the bid opening the tap fee will be the published amount.

For those in the Acapulco Community, SCWSA has very recently been made aware that some property owners currently in Saluda County may moved into Lexington County.  This action is being administered by the SC Geodetic Survey with coordination between the Saluda and Lexington County governments.

It is SCWSA’s goal to provide water to everyone in the Acapulco Community, whether they are in Saluda or Lexington County.  However, this boundary shift puts into question if SCWSA can serve all that have paid deposits for water service that may soon be in Lexington County.  To matters worse, it puts into question whether the project to run the waterline underneath Lake Murray to Acapulco is economically viable.  Please understand SCWSA is doing everything possible to extend water service to Acapulco.  We know how much you need a good water source!

For more information about this boundary action please go to: https://rfa.sc.gov/programs-services/geodetic/county/lexi-salu.  SCWSA asks that you share this information with anyone you think may be interested.  Again, it is SCWSA’s goal to serve as many people as possible in the Phase 2 project.

Finally, SCWSA’s thanks everyone for their patience and support as we move toward the construction of the Phase 2 project.

Sincerely,

Jason R. Fell, P.E., MBA

General Manager
